How to play Project Sand

Project Sand by Josh Don is an interactive falling-sand sandbox. Paint different materials onto the canvas and watch gravity, heat, liquids, and other interactions shape your experiment. It has no traditional win condition.

Controls

Choose an element, then click and drag to draw. Adjust pen size and simulation speed. Clear resets the canvas.

A tip for your first round

Start with a container, then add sand and water. Change one material at a time to see which interaction causes each result.

Play without installing anything

This version of Project Sand plays in a modern browser. Follow the controls above and use a keyboard or the on-screen buttons where available. No account or payment is required. Any supported scores or progress are kept on this device, rather than synced to an account.
