Valheim cheat codes and PC commands
Valheim’s developer console requires the -console launch argument on PC. After opening it with F5, devcommands enables the local-world cheat commands. Dedicated-server administration is a different facility, so owner status alone does not make every local cheat work there.

Use cheats only in a single-player game or an authorized private session. Keep an untouched save before changing a game state. This is an independent text guide. Valheim is not available to play on Gamehub.
Setup and activation
- In Steam, open Valheim Properties and add -console to Launch Options.
- Launch from Steam and load your own local world.
- Press F5, enter devcommands and confirm.
- Try one documented effect and keep a world backup before proceeding.

Version notes and help
Why F5 does nothing
The launch option must be applied to the launcher you actually use. A desktop shortcut that starts a different executable can bypass a Steam launch argument. On a laptop, check whether the function row is sending F5 or a hardware-control action before trying more commands.
Debug shortcuts remain powerful
Debug flight and resource-free construction change how exploration and building work. Turn the shortcut off before returning to your ordinary settlement routine. World modifiers offer a separate supported way to change challenge; they are not the same as enabling a developer console.
Keep local tests separate
Use these examples in a world you control and preserve its backup. A dedicated server has separate permissions and supported administrative commands. This guide does not explain how to bypass a public server’s rules or apply client cheats to someone else’s world.
Common questions
Do I need to download a trainer?
No. This page describes the game’s own facilities. It does not require an external executable, a paid cheat subscription or changes to an online account.
How should I test these changes?
Keep a separate unmodified save, make one change at a time and check the result before continuing. Reversing a toggle does not necessarily reverse everything that happened while it was active.
