Quake Cheat Codes: Original PC
Quake uses its built-in console for single-player cheats. God mode, wall-free flight and weapon grants are separate commands, so you can choose a small assist instead of changing the whole run.

Use cheats only in a single-player game or an authorized private session. Keep an untouched save before changing a game state. This is an independent text guide. Quake is not available to play on Gamehub.
Setup and activation
- Save before experimenting.
- Load a single-player level.
- Press the console key, normally the backtick/tilde key below Escape.
- Type one command and press Enter; close the console to continue.

Version notes and help
Use Quake syntax
The original game expects a resource letter and number for give. For example, h is health and s is shells. Do not transplant Quake II’s give health or give all syntax into the first game and expect the same result.
Keep exploration separate
Noclip is useful for inspecting a blocked route, but switch it off only after moving into a clear playable space. Loading a save is safer than trying to repair a route after flying past a level transition or scripted encounter.
Returning to normal settings
Toggle the movement or targeting command again, then load your preserved campaign save.
Common questions
Do I need sv_cheats 1?
The original Quake single-player commands do not use the later Source-engine setup. Enter the relevant command in a local single-player game.
Does this apply to online matches?
This page covers solo play. Server-side permissions determine what commands are available in a network game.
