Portal 2 Cheat Codes: PC single-player
Portal 2 has a built-in PC developer console. For chamber exploration, enable it in Keyboard/Mouse options and use sv_cheats 1 followed by noclip. Console experimentation is separate from valid challenge records.

Use cheats only in a single-player game or an authorized private session. Keep an untouched save before changing a game state. This is an independent text guide. Portal 2 is not available to play on Gamehub.
Setup and activation
- Save before modifying the chamber.
- In Options, Keyboard/Mouse, set Allow Developer Console to Enabled.
- Open the console using the backtick/tilde key.
- Enter sv_cheats 1 and then one command at a time.

Version notes and help
Use exploration to understand a puzzle
Noclip can show how a laser, gel route or funnel is connected, but it does not constitute an intended solution. Return to a clean save to solve the test normally. Turning cheats off does not retroactively validate a challenge attempt.
Keep experiments local
This guide is for single-player. In cooperative play the host controls cheat permission, and a movement command can disrupt the other player’s puzzle. Use ordinary pings and partner view for a normal cooperative solution instead.
Restore the model
Use r_drawviewmodel 1 when you want the portal device visible again.
Common questions
Will this affect challenge mode?
The Portal Wiki documents that sv_cheats disables achievement earning and challenge-record submission. Keep records in an unmodified session.
Why does the console key do nothing?
Enable Allow Developer Console first. On a non-US keyboard, the physical key or binding may differ from the tilde symbol.
