How to play Peg Solitaire
Peg Solitaire is a solo jump-and-remove puzzle played on a cross-shaped English board with 33 holes. A move carries one peg horizontally or vertically over an adjacent peg into the empty hole directly beyond it. Remove the peg that was jumped. In this version the goal is exactly one remaining peg in the center, marked with a plus. Easy starts with three pegs and can be finished in two jumps; Medium starts with six pegs and needs five jumps; Hard starts with 32 pegs and the center hole empty, requiring 31 jumps for a complete solution. Easy and Medium are fixed practice positions rather than randomly generated puzzles. Undo lets you revisit a decision. Suggest a legal move highlights one available jump, but does not solve the puzzle or guarantee a winning finish. This Gamehub implementation uses its own code and board styling for the established rules. No account, download or timer is required; progress lasts only while the player remains open.
Controls
Tap or click a peg, then a highlighted empty landing hole. Use arrow keys to move keyboard focus, Enter or Space to select, and Escape to clear selection. Undo restores a jump. Changing difficulty or restarting clears the current board.
A tip for your first round
Work backward from the center goal: the last jump must land there. Before clearing an outer arm, check whether its remaining pegs can still connect to the middle. An isolated peg cannot move without a neighbor. Use the three-peg practice to learn selection and jumping before tackling the full board.
Play without installing anything
This version of Peg Solitaire plays in a modern browser. Follow the controls above and use a keyboard or the on-screen buttons where available. No account or payment is required. Any supported scores or progress are kept on this device, rather than synced to an account.
Peg Solitaire questions
How do you win Peg Solitaire?
Jump and remove pegs until exactly one remains in the center hole. A single peg outside the center is not a win in this version.
What do Easy, Medium and Hard change?
Easy is a fixed three-peg practice finish, Medium is a fixed six-peg finish, and Hard uses the classic 32-peg start. All use the same orthogonal jump rule and center goal.
Does a suggested move solve the puzzle?
No. It identifies a currently legal jump and highlights its landing. It does not guarantee a route to the center finish.
Is my progress saved?
Progress stays in the current player until it is reloaded. There is no account, cloud save or persistent progress storage for this game.
