Dune II cheat codes and how to use them
The DOS version of Dune II does not have the console version’s password cheats. In particular, LOOKAROUND, PLAYTESTER and SPLURGEOLA belong to the Sega version’s password interface, not an ordinary PC code-entry box.

Use cheats only in a single-player game or an authorized private session. Keep an untouched save before changing a game state. This is an independent text guide. Dune II is not available to play on Gamehub.
Setup and activation
- Confirm your platform is the original DOS game.
- Keep a separate mission save before experimenting.
- Use the normal PC mission interface; there is no verified standard typed cheat activation.
Version notes and help
Why platform labels matter
Many searchable cheat lists put Sega passwords under a broad Dune II heading. The console game has a password screen and the original PC game does not use that interface. A code for Battle for Arrakis on a console cannot be assumed to work in DOS.
Ports and recreated engines
Dune Legacy is a separate engine with its own development commands, including a documented enable phrase. Those commands are not proof of a hidden system in Westwood’s original program. Identify the executable rather than just recognizing the artwork.
Speed can affect old engine behavior
The specialist Insider’s Guide describes the original engine’s sonic-tank range changing with the speed setting. That is a gameplay quirk, not a typed code. Do not assume a recreated engine preserves the same quirk, or change speed mid-test and attribute the difference to a password.
A reproducible retry
For a hard mission, save before the stage where the economy or defenses fail. Change one decision and compare from the same checkpoint. File editing is outside this guide: altering scenario data can break a mission and is unnecessary for trying a different plan.
Common questions
Where do I enter SPLURGEOLA on PC?
There is no matching original PC password screen; that code is for Sega.
Does Give me some credits work in DOS?
That phrase is documented for Dune Legacy, not original Dune II.
