A console may accept display or interface settings while refusing gameplay cheats. Entering con_restricted 0 does not establish that it worked. A firsthand Maximum Edition report specifically documents these commonly circulated instructions failing on patch 1.9.
Maximum Edition is not a remaster
PCGamingWiki distinguishes the original game’s patch and high-resolution packages from the later remaster. Always match technical instructions to your exact release. A video demonstrating an old build cannot confirm the behavior of the executable installed today.
Make the supported adjustments first
Lower campaign difficulty if combat is the obstacle. If aiming or movement is inconsistent, check frame rate, resolution and input settings before looking for a cheat. Keep configuration experiments reversible, and avoid deleting patch files in an attempt to expose old developer functionality.
