Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition cheat codes and how to use them

Version notes and help
Achievements and campaign medals
Using cheats changes eligibility for campaign achievements and medals. Make a separate save before testing, and use a clean session for an unassisted result. Do not assume an old event’s temporary achievement exception still applies.
Event codes are no longer all locked away
The developer released previously event-exclusive codes to all players through updates. Photon Man is documented in update 56005. That does not mean every guide written for the original Age of Kings has current Definitive Edition behavior.
Missing cheat units
A Town Center is required for unit-spawn phrases. Return of Rome is a separate mode inside the client and does not accept every AoE II unit code; this table covers the normal AoE II game.
Common questions
Why does the Cobra Car not appear?
Check that you have a Town Center and cheats are permitted in this game.
Do resource codes need apostrophes?
Type the phrase as shown, including the apostrophe in jimmy’s using a plain keyboard apostrophe.
